Music,artz and Sportz!

This is where the blog is going, at the moment.

Have, had, enough of boreing politicians. A small time to talk about other things. A challenge, to all, about their most favourite music, this year. Great Art? Love to see pictures. Favourite recipes? Ricky Pontings best innings\please not. More, slighty time out.

Update: Vale Kerry Packer and 'cliche' special. According to the P.M., he was a 'great orstralian' and "larger than life". (And promised not to talk of boreing politicians, but could not resist. ) Mr Lefty has posted well, see below, at the 'demise of an aussie icon', 'before the first sod has been turned'. Any other cliches that come to mind, or heard, would be most appreciated. May not Kerry, bully more.

Weeweechu !

Joke, that was the best I could come up with, as the holiday season begins.

One December evening, Huan Cho and his girlfriend Jung Lee were sitting by the side of the ocean. It was a romantic full moon, when Huan Cho said 'sweet flower', let's play 'Weeweechu'. "Oh no, not now, let's look at the moon" said Jung Lee.

"Oh, let's you and I play Weeweechu. I love you and its the perfect time, "Huan Cho Begged." But I rather, just hold your hand and watch the moon."

"Please Jung Lee, just once play Weeweechu with me. "Jung Lee looked at Huan Chi and said, "OK, we'll play Weeweechu." Huan Cho grabbed his guitar and they both sang.....

"Weeweechu a merry Christmas, Weeweechu a merry Christmas,Weeweechu a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year."

And a happy solstice from Joe2, who is busy cooking.

Scott Parkin and Terry Lane.

Sunday sees the retiremement of Terry Lane . Sad to see the old bastard go. Have enjoyed his quick and clever mind for many years. From christian minister to giving up on the 'god thang'. Sure, he has plans to continue ,slightly, but his departure will be a great loss. He showed his usual spunk on last weeks edition of, " The National Interest", when he interviewed Julian Birnside, about the case of Scott Parkin.

An American citizen, who was held in custody, disposed of,with a large quasi-fine,for reasons we may never know. Thus, is the likely fate of all local citizens who rub the nose of our cold Attourney-General. To quote Birnside Q.c,we are on the virge of "totalitarianism". Find last weeks interview around here and a goodby kiss to Terry.

Hippy shit and shameless Plug.

See link for a great festival that I have visited more than a few times. Not sure, I will be able to visit this year, but a great antidote for Chrissy grief. The history of this relaxing, well organised event, goes back to Uncle Jim Cairns. http://www.dte.org.au/NextFest.html Good veg food, some nudity, great river and get used to pooing quick and loveing flies.

Thanks to 'Mountain Murmers' for the idea. Promote stuff you like, have no financial interest in,and just want to see it remain.http://www.mountainmurmurs.com/?p=18#comments

Slightly, Time Out.

Apology, that I have not posted recently. So much stuff to think about and wondering why, I bother to blog. Remember, that I only started this persuit because some sites required my membership of "Blogger", as a chance to make a comment.

Have enjoyed the company of many friends over this trying year. Blogroll has never been provided, because I would not know how to do it anyway. To the people have who provided comments/support, thankyou very much. Especially, Brownie and Suki.

A little plug for this blogger because he/she is so wise and bloody good . My inspiration from a long time back! http://www.bilegrip.com/. Mind you, beware of Harold Hark. Thankfully, now an expat.

Can you define 'Democracy'?

The challenge ,here, is to protect the most endangered word in the alphabet. In frivilous mode, please, unless you have to be serious. I will go for ,"government by the people, for the people", because our 'souvlaki' at 'Eat at Joes', is the best. And , didn't Greeks invent both words, anyway?

A little Plagiarism/stolen

"EXAM BLOOPERS: Here are some items taken from actual exam papers in the United States.* A student in a science class wrote, "The universe is a giant orgasm" (instead of organism). At the end of the student's essay, the teacher riposted, "Your answer gives new meaning to the Big Bang Theory." * All animals were here before mankind. The animals lived peacefully until mankind came along and made roads, houses, hotels, and condoms. * Men are mammals and women are femammals. * Involuntary muscles are not as willing as voluntary ones. * Cadavers are dead bodies that have donated themselves to science. This procedure is called gross anatomy. * When you breath, you inspire. When you do not breath, you expire. * H2O is hot water, and CO2 is cold water. * Artifical insemination is when the farmer does it to the cow instead of the bull. * Mushrooms always grow in damp places and so they look like umbrellas. * Germinate: To become a naturalized German. * Rhubarb: A kind of celery gone bloodshot. * Vacuum: A large, empty space where the pope lives."

Personally,I reckon they are not bloopers, but show great wisdom.Especially, the last one. From here.... http://www.dharmathecat.com/humourp.htm

Power Addiction.

With the sad death of ,Van Nguyen, confirmed, it seems an appropriate time to talk of Singapore ,democracy, drugs and what might be gained from this senseless killing. No one enjoys the harm that comes from heroin addiction. Or, any other drug for that matter. Many around the blogs have hailed Singapore as the 'model of a modern major -general', in cracking down on this substance. They have a pretty good reputation on 'chewing gum', repression with large fines.

'Joy' on talkback, praised the place as "clean and neat" and lamented the lack of discipline amongst our young. Another great comment on an unnamed blog, spoke of Singapore as a "democratic society", and while she dislikes capital punishment ,she accepts their right to enforce their laws.

Power is a 'drug' and has not yet been prohibited. As long as it used with some sense of responsibility, we would all be happy. See here, for more info, on the wonders of a pseudo democracy http://www.singapore-window.org/804caq9.htm

George 11 is such a funny guy.

Reported ,through a leaked document, that the President talked to his mate Tone about the possibility of blowing up the headquarters of al-Jazeera in Quatar. The defense-- he was just joking with his pal.

Not relaxed or comfortable!

When John Howard came to power, he promised a more relaxed society, where people would be able to watch the cricket, without concern ,for what is happening in the world. The "war on drugs" and "terrorism", has proved a disaster ,let alone his close connection with George 11. He,at least, is happy to watch the cricket while one of his citizens swings. See
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2005/11/28/1133026368248.html

His ambivalence on capital punishment, suggests he will be happy to introduce it here, soon. We should pull out of a 'free trade agreement', with Singapore, until they are prepared to consider basic civil rights.

Bombs to hit, near Katherine.

As part of an agreement with the U.S., we have become a bombing range for B52's. How good is that? The deal is, we subserviently allow a bit of dumping of goods from Guam and then they turn around and go home. The Japanese did a little bit of this stuff during the second world war.

Now it gets little media and Senator Hill, Defense Minister ,does not need to even explain. Depleted uranium, who cares? Beautiful country destroyed and a few stealth bombers,no doubt. Isn't it great to live in an independent, democratic country? http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/us-to-drop-live-bombs-on-nt-in-training/2005/11/18/1132016981630.html

Howard, where was,yah?

A significant event in Australian racing history and you thought it more important to keep, all students in school, while you thumpted and raved.

While, Peter McGauran sniffed and sneezed and Costello looked more glumb than, I have ever seen. Never mix the big race with discipline . Some people may get to see you on parliamentary, Question time. Scary.

Industrial Relations Moneybucket.

Dewey-Horton ,advertising agency, must be licking the lips. With a budget of possibly 100 million of taxpayers funds, they and other pony-tailers look sure of a Harley in the Christmas stocking.

Is there a media organisation that is prepared investigate those who are bringing us the good news? Payments to those who have worked on the advertisements range from double time on the job ,while unsure of what the ad is about, to double pay when you are not actually an actor.

Might not this case be the first to go to The Fair Pay Commission?

What a day for government spindoctors.
With the end of democracy, nigh, you get this.......

Phil, tells us that everybody has had enough time to see the Anti-terrorism laws. Thanks, Attorney-general,but wasnt that due to a leak?

John, suggests that it is not "un-Australian", to present the laws on Cup Day. Also, he has concerns about the use of that term so loosley, these days. No comment.

Eat at joes, suspect, that there is no diet for repression of free speech and civil liberties amongst the population ,as well. Regardless of Labor Premiers, who think it is there god given right to pass that role on to an attourney-general ,who failed so dismally, in his role as Immigration Minister.

Recipe for good tucker soon.

Another sad event in Bali.

How sad is it that the Balinese have been hit ,again.

Not a time to deny a dollar to these great people.
My suggestion is, continue to travel there. If you have visited, you will understand the complexity of their situation. Also, the learning, so close to our shores, about death and dying. Still reckon it is relatively safe.

Remember, that it is not just Australians who have died and are injured. Media spin will focus on our own great loss. Totally horrible as it is , catch up on the toll in Iraq. Only time you hear about that, is when you watch S.B.S. news.

Am I still allowed to suggest there may be some connection?

Sun Set's On Democracy

See, Steve Bracks saying(from left to right), " I love democracy so much,we should give it a go again, in 10 years". Gallop says,"go stevie".
Chief Minister, of Australian Capital Territory, wonders why Paul Lennon makes such bad music now.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

According to the Queensland premier, we are about to introduce laws that are "draconian" , in his words ,in the ongoing war on terrorism. Still ,he will be prepared to pass them ,anyway. The only bright spot is John Stanhope ,representing the national territory, who doubts that they are needed at all.
Guambat stew put the situation of Scott Parkin, most well, here http://guambatstew.blogspot.com/2005/09/theyve-lost-their-marbles.html A Canberra writer, Chas Savage, mentioned his case in a wider context on Auntys' "Perspective", a great 5 min soapbox. See here http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/perspective/stories/s1468673.htm The point he makes , so brilliantly , is that , without proper checks and balances, we are passing over our civil rights to fairly unaccountable politicians and a secret police ,who are only accountable to them.
All the ingredients for a police state.

Friday, September 23, 2005

Unaccountable Secret Police?

I have posted around the Blogosphere,in Australia, about the case of Scott Parkin. A political peace ,activist from Houston,Texas, who visited this country and was deported as a threat to national security. It was leaked through a national paper that he had been involved in behaviour that sounds far from peacefull.

My concern relates to the 'secrecy' of his case, in what I imagined was a democracy. Attourney-general Ruddock refused to tell us why this bloke was picked up, put in solitary confinement and asked to pay around 8,000 dollars for the experience.

Then came a leak from Greg Sheridan of The Australian. Allegations totally denied by Parkin and associates. He is deemed a foreigner and not worthy of a fair go. Due process is falling down in this country. This is not the first case, but indicative of a lock up without law mentality and SECRECY. I believe we are moving towards a police state. With the sad compliance of the Labor Party.

Mark Texter focus groups.

Apology ,the guy who is helping "The Nationals", in N.Z., is Mark Texter.

Exclusive Brethren

I have finally found the name of the group that has put out pamphlets in New Zealand election campaign, without required authorisation. Apparently, they have spent a large amount of money in a scare tactic against Kiwi Greens.
Stuff like legalisation of dope for kids etc etc. Smears, that sound very similar to the tactics of Family First in recent Australian election. Nationals claim Linton Crosby has played, no part ,in their electoral strategy but a chap called Dexter has helped. Amazing!

Recipe for an electoral win?

Apparently, a group called ,something like, "the brethren" are spending lots of money to get rid of Labor. It is a business group that has recently been formed.

Meat for all.
Greens are bad for you.
Add Linton on all.

This is a recipe that worked well in OZ but fails in U.K.
Will it work over the Tasman Sea?
